I am Julian Johnson A.K.A. (JJai) From “The Valley” Los Angeles, CA and by way of Atlanta, Ga. The Creative Artist and visionary behind Infin Art n Design. Having multiple sides of my creative mind that tend to clash with one another, resulting in what I call “ Walking and Stationary Art.” The work explores the world ties between nature, fashion, military, contact sports, political issues and psychology ultimately creating a form of therapy. Crossing disciplinary practice over in the work like, Painting, Printmaking, Photography, Hand Sewing, Leather crafting, Tattooing, and Ext. All influencing one another, creating dynamic one of kind pieces for the abstract individual’s walls or on their person. So I pose the question to the “Abstract Individuals”, is the future ours ?
I am a self taught learner with some great showers, because as they say “you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.” I use many different mediums in art with no set in stone structure, so that allows me to play. I studied fashion in High school & college learning the basics on drawing, construction, history, techniques, and the power behind the combination they bring to true fashion. I use some Japanese techniques like Sashiko “little stabs” or Boro. These techniques were used as a form of therapy for poverty stricken women to keep their minds focused on solutions, over surroundings. Painting has always been a language from walls to fabric to paper and everything else. Recently I picked up the camera and went to play with it,, over the last 2yrs.This decision was made out of necessity for mental therapy and to get out of the confines of the “Little Room”. No formal training, just play and learn as you go. On the way learning facts from people, gaining new experiences, ultimately a love of photography and all that it brings to the world. History, Techniques, People, Communication, all play a major part of ART differently. For myself, I have learned that being confined to structured and traditional forms of art are great, just not for my creativity. Learning in the field is more the way.
Art and a lot of its forms have been part of my life from the beginning. Drawing, dance, and anything musical sound is where these abilities started from at a young age. Coming from a long line of creatives and athletes within my families, I was bound to become a mixture of talents and will power. Imagine summer days waking up before the sunrise at 7yrs old, going to work with your grandfather at his auto shop doing the dirty jobs for a couple dollars to get snacks at the corner store. After a great day at the shop, getting home and watching my grandmother doing all her crafts. At this age I was learning some of the “Fun to mentals” to life, work and art. They both played a major role in my development. The balance of opposites and how seeds of bamboo were planted by everyone in my life. As I got older all of those seeds started sprouting creating a forest of life and with some of the most versatile material. So remember inspiration comes from all parts of your life, just have to use the material as needed.
I am older now and still growing with my forest.
